Bear Cottage is a paediatric hospice located in Manly. The Bear Cottage Team and Facility Manager position is a temporary 13-week role (with possibility to extend) to provide facility management support to the team throughout the upcoming site-based refurbishments.

 



What you'll be doing
Bear Cottage is a paediatric hospice located in Manly, NSW and forms part of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN). It provides respite care, symptom management, end of life care for children living with a life limiting illness. Through a multidisciplinary team, Bear Cottage delivers holistic care to patients and their families across the illness trajectory, together with ongoing bereavement support following the death of a child. 


The Bear Cottage Team and Facility Manager is responsible for leading the operational planning and coordination for the upcoming Bear Cottage refurbishment scheduled to commence in late July 2026. Working in close partnership with the Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) Corporate Services Team and the Bear Cottage Leadership Team, the role will ensure clinical and facility services remain responsive, high quality, and uninterrupted throughout the preparation phase and duration of the renovation works.

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Facility Management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience in healthcare facility or operational management.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare facility standards, regulations and compliance requirements including the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines and relevant legislative requirements.
  3. Proven experience leading and managing diverse teams, fostering a positive workplace culture, and promoting collaboration and accountability.
  4. Highly developed organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple projects effectively.
  5. Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of Work Health and Safety policies, procedures and systems to ensure compliance and maintain a safe environment including areas such as infection control and fire safety.
  6. Well-developed interpersonal, consultation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and support efficient operational outcomes.
  7. Current NSW Class C Driver License and willingness and ability to travel offsite as required to support operational requirements.
