About The Opportunity
South Western Sydney Local Health District ‘LHD’ is one of the largest and faster growing health districts in the state, and has a portfolio of active redevelopments of over $3b, as well as managing 6x major brownfield hospitals and numerous community sites.
• internal CWI teams and projects <$10m, Engineering, Fire and Biomedical Engineering services, etc; and,
• all ‘LHD’ redevelopment activities
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Director of Capital Works and Infrastructure (DCWI), this role ensures the seamless execution of infrastructure projects, driving efficiency, compliance, and stakeholder collaboration. Key responsibilities include overseeing multi-disciplinary teams, guiding project delivery, managing contractor performance, mitigating risks, and optimizing resources to achieve high standards in healthcare infrastructure.
The Associate Director, Operations & Redevelopments (Capital Works and Infrastructure) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across capital works, asset management, and major redevelopment projects within the Local Health District (LHD).
This position is ideal for a seasoned leader passionate about delivering impactful, large-scale healthcare projects.
The position:
- involves overseeing both internal and external multi-disciplined teams, ensuring that operational processes and delivery align with the CWI’s and the LHDs strategic goals;
- will work closely with, guide, coach and support all LHD Redevelopment teams and Project Directors, General Manager Units and Services, Health Infrastructure (‘HI’) and project managers (internal and external), as well as all CWI departments, to ensure consistency; drive operational efficiency, performance, innovation, and compliance; and, delivery maximum-value and benefitrealization for the LHD, with minimal disruptions and ensuring full risk mitigations, to achieve highest possible standards and outcomes.
The role also is responsible for ensuring all contractor management, Disruption Notices, MWE and LFI ac ivities, policies, process & project management functions (internal and external) are successfully are consistently completed across the LHD, and on all projects and precincts/sites, with:
- effective planning, due diligence, governance, reporting, standardised processes, efficient high-performing resources, and a positive team culture.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in project and contract management and/or demonstrated relevant extensive professional experience and training in a similar senior role in the public or private sectors.

- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
