About this role
The Associate Director Nursing and Midwifery has a significant role in the development and implementation of major statewide initiatives.  The role provides expert strategic advice to a range of stakeholders and manages the Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO). 
You will bring your broad senior nursing and midwifery leadership and management experience to a diverse range of opportunities and challenges as you support the leadership of NaMO and build the professional profile of nursing and midwifery across NSW Health..

Nurse Manager, grade 8, starting salary from $194,485 - $197,130 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing 
Day to day work involves: 

  • Working closely with the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer
  • Responding to requests from the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Deputy Secretary People Governance and Culture, and a broad range of stakeholders internal and external to the Ministry of Health. 
  • Engaging with stakeholders and providing high level advice on a wide range of nursing and midwifery matters
  • Chairing and attending meetings
  • Approving briefs and payments 
  • Providing mentoring and support to NaMO team members on their statewide projects and programs
  • Undertaking line manager responsibilities – performance, payroll, recruitment, etc


About you 
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • The ability to think strategically, apply critical analysis and have strong attention to detail
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to lead and work in a small dynamic team environment.
  • A strong understanding of recruitment principles and processes
  • Current registration as a Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and knowledge of the national health professional regulatory framework with specific application to nurses and midwives
  • The ability to manage a budget and oversee governance on expenditure
