Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.


Our Nepean Emergency Department is seeking to engage Assistant In Nursing candidates to join their team as an Emergency Department Support Officer. On offer are full time or part time assignments working a rotating roster. The Emergency Department Support Officer ensures the provision of professional and courteous patient support service within the unit. Key duties also include maintaining clinical readiness and efficiency through re-stocking, equipment set-ups, episodic cleaning, and assisting with internal patient movement.


The successful incumbent will ensure and maintain a tidy environment for the unit and may be required to assist in transporting equipment. This position works with the multidiscipline team within the department and assist Registered Nurses in patient care activities such as, but not limited to, patient's daily living activities (e.g. feeding, showering, and pressure area care).

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Holds Certificate III) in Health Services Assistance (Assistant in Nursing work in Acute Care); or currently enrolled as a 2nd year Undergraduate Nursing Student with previous experience working in an acute care facility
  2. Good written and verbal communication skills
  3. Demonstrated ability to conduct nursing practice in a manner that respects the rights of individuals and groups
  4. Demonstrated ability to use computer-based applications and information systems.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  6. Demonstrated flexibility in performance of duties, customer service delivery and attention to detail
  7. Availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/ seven-day rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays
