Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital is an acute hospital that supports a population of approximately 80,000 and is the only ANZAC Memorial hospital remaining in NSW. Easily accessible to Sydney residents, our team of clinicians, allied health, and support staff works with the community on a shared goal to maintain the delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Blue Mountains region.
We are seeking compassionate and motivated Assistants in Nursing to join our team on a casual basis. In this rewarding role, you will provide direct patient care within a healthcare environment while working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
As an Assistant in Nursing, you will support patients with activities of daily living, helping to maintain their comfort, dignity and wellbeing. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care, hygiene, mobility and other non-clinical care activities, while observing and reporting any changes in a patient's condition to the nursing team. You will play an important role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive patient experience.
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a caring and professional approach, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. What you will bring to the role
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in acute care), or currently enrolled in second or third year of an undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery program
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe, compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care that supports patient dignity, privacy, and cultural diversity.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately with patients, families, carers, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, following direction from registered nurses or midwives and contributing positively to team outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise and complete delegated tasks effectively while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to identify changes in a patient's condition, recognise potential risks, and escalate concerns appropriately within your scope of practice and organisational guidelines.
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of contributing to continuous improvement in healthcare settings.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge required for workers to participate in safe work practices to ensure their own health and safety, and that of others.
