What You Will Be Doing

As an Assistant in Nursing, you will work under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living, including personal care, mobility and comfort.
  • Supporting patients throughout their hospital stay and promoting their independence where appropriate.
  • Assisting nursing staff with routine clinical and non-clinical tasks within your scope of practice.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in patients' condition to the supervising nurse.
  • Assisting with patient transfers, admissions and discharge processes.
  • Preparing patient areas and maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
  • Working collaboratively with nurses, medical officers, allied health professionals, patients and families to support positive patient outcomes.

This role offers excellent exposure to a broad range of medical and surgical presentations while providing valuable experience within a supportive acute care environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assistant in Nursing) or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to work under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability and reliability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, respectful and patient-centred approach to care.
  • Commitment to teamwork and providing high-quality support to patients and colleagues.
