An exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student midwife to join the incredible team in the Birth Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH). The role is permanent, one day per week.

Where you'll be working

 
RNSH is a tertiary referral hospital with complex high-risk pregnancies as well as encouraging and promoting normal birth. Our birth rooms and Birth Unit have incorporated the latest research on room design to promote a woman centred environment.

What you'll be doing
 The Undergraduate Assistant in Midwifery (AIM) provides midwifery care under the direction and  supervision of the Registered Midwife. 

The AIM provides care for clients within Maternity Services and is responsible for: 
 

  • The provision of family centred antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
  • The provision of an optimal level of individualised and holistic care in a safe and harmonious environment.
  • The provision of optimum level of care to the newborn.
  • Provision of lactation support consistent with the (WHO) Baby Friendly.
  • Initiative (BFI).


 People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. 

 Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: 

  1. Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Midwifery.
  2. Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work under supervision.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide care within a multidisciplinary care setting.
