We operate more than 60 laboratories and around 200 collection centres across NSW and conduct over 60 million tests per annum. Our network of pathologists are supported by scientists, technicians and support staff who quickly and accurately assess samples so clinical teams can make the best possible treatment decisions for patients. What you'll be doing

NSW Health Pathology is at the forefront of delivering critical healthcare support services across the state, and our finance professionals underpin this mission by ensuring effective financial governance and reporting. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing support to the Corporate Finance team using technical accounting knowledge and analytical skills to maintain compliance with NSW Ministry of Health policies and Australian Accounting Standards. This role is part of the Financial Accounting team and will support the needs in accordance with the team structure.

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or working towards qualifications in accounting, finance, business or a related discipline and/or demonstrated work experience
  2. Demonstrated recent experience in the delivery of financial accounting and reporting services such as; preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, sub-ledge accounting and accounts reconciliations
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills including proven ability to communicate clearly, facilitate and express ideas clearly and coherently, and support the business to achieve required outcomes
  4. Strong analytical and conceptual skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret information from different sources to proactively identify issues and formulate strategies to address them
  5. Demonstrated skills in creating, maintaining and publishing documents, utilising the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel and Access
  6. Demonstrated understanding of general accounting practices, ability to interpret and apply general accounting policies and Australian Accounting Standards
  7. Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines, organise and prioritise high-volume workloads
