About the Role

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a motivated and reliable Apprentice Plumber to join our multidisciplinary maintenance team at Tamworth Hospital Campus.

This role is an excellent opportunity to learn the plumbing trade while working alongside experienced and qualified tradespeople in a large and diverse healthcare environment. Reporting to the Leading Hand Plumber, you will assist with the repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems including water supplies, drainage systems, roofing, guttering and associated infrastructure across the hospital campus and supporting buildings.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will undertake formal TAFE studies in block release as arranged by the TAFE plumbing staff while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a supportive workplace.

 

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to completing an apprenticeship and obtaining a Trade Qualified Plumber licence
  • Be willing to learn, listen and follow instructions carefully
  • Have a genuine interest in the plumbing trade
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Have good problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Be safety focused and motivated to work in a healthcare environment
  • Be prepared to attend TAFE training blocks as required

 

About the Team

You will be joining a multidisciplinary maintenance team consisting of:

  • Plumbers
  • Electricians
  • Fitters
  • Carpenters
  • Handyperson staff
  • Gardening and grounds staff


This diverse team works collaboratively to maintain critical infrastructure and support the delivery of healthcare services across the hospital campus.


What you'll be doing

To learn and develop trade skills in the trade as a Plumber and to provide quality support to the tradesmen at the Tamworth Hospital Campus.  Apprentice Plumbers assist in the repairs and maintenance of hydraulic systems at the Tamworth Hospital Campus and its associated buildings, including but not limited to, water supplies, drainage systems, roofing and guttering and other miscellaneous equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to undertake and complete an apprenticeship as a Plumber including the appropriate TAFE course.
