About the job:

This Allied Health Assistant traineeship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain a recognised qualification in Certificate III as an Allied Health Assistant while getting hands-on experience. Under the supervision of Occupational Therapists and Dietitians and support staff, you will assist the team with clinical and non-clinical tasks. This may include liaising with dietitians to ensure accurate meal selection based on dietary needs, setting up and maintaining resources for programs, assisting in group programs, maintaining and ordering equipment and supplies. The Allied Health team will provide you with dedicated support and time to complete your Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.


You will have unique learning opportunities to explore various Allied Health career paths within Hunter New England Health. This traineeship is ideal for recent school leavers looking to gain a valuable qualification in a health-related field.

Join a skilled Mater Mental Health team and support staff dedicated to providing excellent patient care. The Mater Mental Health Centre is a 100 bed acute inpatient facility for adults requiring mental health assessment, treatment, and care.  As part of the Occupational Therapy and Nutrition and Dietetics team, you’ll be embraced by a friendly, collaborative atmosphere working alongside both Occupational Therapist, Dietitians and AHAs. You’ll have supervision and support provided from the Occupational therapy and Nutrition and Dietetics team, who are very eager to help you learn and grow as a professional during your traineeship.

  • Need to have completed year 10 at a minimum
