About the opportunity
The Allied Health department provides services to our inpatient and community programs. The team consists of physiotherapists, OTs, Dietitian, Speech Pathologist, Social Workers and Allied Health Assistants. This position requires an allied health assistant to work as part of the multidisciplinary team within Mercy Health which provides an Allied Health Service to the older person.
Essential - Certificate IV Allied Health Assistant & full drivers licence (probationary license not suitable)
Deliver & monitor client specific exercise programs (group & individual) under the guidance of the physiotherapist
Assist clients with equipment setup and use under Occupational Therapist supervision

- Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance or willing to undertake same OR other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer . Allied Health Assistants will be employed at Levels 1-3 dependant on qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as an Allied Health Assistant in a Hospital, Rehabilitation Unit, Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy/Speech Pathology/Dietetics/Medical Imaging or a facility working with people with disabilities
- Demonstrated ability to assist in treatment and non treatment activities or groups under the direction of an allied health professional
- Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own work/caseload and to take direction as required
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of person centred care, quality improvement and multidisciplinary team work
- Availability and capacity to participate in a seven day roster which includes all days of the week including public holidays (if applicable)
- Ability to work in sites across the Local Health District as required or directed with a valid unrestricted drivers licence for use in NSW and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
