Where you'll be working

Mental Health Inpatient Unit, Older Persons Mental Health Unit, PECC - St George Mental Health Service, located on St George Hospital campus, Kogarah.

The Nursing and Midwifery – Our Strategy for Transforming Person Centred Cultures 2024-2029 guides our profession in the development of effective person-centred practice and healthful cultures within SESLHD. We advocate for shared decision-making, collaborative relationships, compassionate and person-centred leadership, and supporting innovative practices. 

Participates as a member of the St George Mental Health management team, responsible for: 

  • Effective and efficient leadership and management of the relevant inpatient services
  • Guiding the delivery of optimal patient care through collaborative partnerships with other teams, services and organisations
  • Supporting the St George Mental Health Executive, Nursing Unit Managers and Patient Flow Coordinator in the daily operational activities for the Units
  • Involvement in strategic planning, project development and continuous improvement of practice standards and services
  • Participating in rostered Executive On-call duties for after-hours and weekends.

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

 

  1. Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  2. Demonstrated extensive post-registration experience in mental health nursing with management experience and experience in acute mental health care.
  3. Demonstrated excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to undertake clinical service planning, change management and financial management.
  5. Knowledge of Work Health and Safety and Injury Management, security, risk, and safety management, associated with acute mental health service.
  6. Understanding of and commitment to consumer and carer consultation and participation in service planning and delivery.
  7. Sound knowledge of Performance Management and Industrial Relations Processes.
  8. Computer literacy and current NSW unrestricted drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
