Western NSW Local Health District is seeking enthusiastic and committed medical officers to join the Paediatric Department at Bathurst Health Service as Paediatrics Registrars. These positions provide an outstanding opportunity to gain broad clinical experience while undertaking training in a supportive, collegiate and patient-focused environment.
These positions are accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and are suitable for trainees pursuing Advanced Training in Paediatrics and Child Health.
About the Role
As a Paediatrics Registrar, you will work within a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive care to infants, children and adolescents across inpatient, outpatient, emergency and neonatal settings. Registrars are actively involved in the assessment, management and coordination of paediatric care while receiving supervision and mentorship from experienced Consultant Paediatricians.
The role offers exposure to a diverse and rewarding case mix, providing valuable experience in both acute and general paediatrics within a regional referral hospital setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessment and management of paediatric inpatients and emergency presentations.
- Participation in neonatal and newborn care.
- Attendance at paediatric outpatient clinics.
- Participation in the after-hours and on-call roster.
- Collaboration with nursing, allied health and community healthcare teams.
- Contribution to quality improvement, clinical governance and teaching activities.

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team including leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), time management, problem solving and computer skills.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Successful completion of the relevant College clinical examination.
