What you'll be doing
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. RPAH is also one of Australia's leading quaternary referral hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services. Its specialities include cardiothoracic/adult ECMO, obstetrics and gynaecology, surgical oncology, colorectal, liver and kidney transplants. There are  >5000 deliveries / year at RPAH, with the neonatal unit having around 1000 admissions annually. 
  
We are seeking 1 advanced trainee in paediatrics with an interest in neonatology to fill 1FTE position. This position is accredited for advanced training in neonatology by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). The position would suit an advanced trainee undertaking perinatal training, or a general paediatric advanced trainee wishing to gain more experience in neonatal care.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Registered for advanced training in Neonatology or advanced general paediatric training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent.
  3. At least six months experience as an advanced trainee in a Neonatal Intensive Care unit with an interest in undertaking further advanced training in Neonatology within Australia.
  4. Demonstrate developed skills in all procedures used in neonatal intensive care.
  5. Ability to make independent clinical decisions within the limits of ability and to know when to consult for advice.
  6. Demonstrate excellent communication skills with colleagues and families and have a good track record of working well within a team.
  7. Demonstrate an interest and an ability to perform independent research, and demonstrate an understanding of good teaching methods and a commitment to instruction and supervision of Junior Medical and other clinical staff.
