What you'll be doing
To provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision by Attending Medical Officers (AMOs), including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
The Medical Oncology Advanced Trainee will be in an accredited Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) training program within the Medical Oncology Department in a network of hospitals, or an individual hospital. The Advanced Trainee will be assigned to the Medical Oncology Department for the specified term and will undertake specific tasks and responsibilities at that Hospital. The Advanced Trainee will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise junior medical officers (JMOs) and medical students. It is also expected that the Advanced Trainee participates in the clinical meetings and teaching and be subject to training and performance reviews.
There are twelve networks of hospitals, or individual hospitals, as follows. You may be required to work at the different facilities and locations with a network

- Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, Concord, Dubbo Hospitals
- Westmead, Blacktown Hospitals

- Lismore Base Hospital
- Port Macquarie Base Hospital
- Nepean, Orange, Macquarie University, Mater North Sydney Hospitals (NeMMO Network)
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Advanced organisational skills, good time management skills and capacity for self-directed learning.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication to varied audiences.
- Advanced ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
