Remuneration: $44.28 - $58.91 per hour

What you'll be doing
As an Advanced Clinical Coder, you’ll apply your high-level coding expertise to ensure accuracy and compliance across a broad range of specialties. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring and supporting junior coders, driving quality initiatives, and contributing to the district’s coding excellence.

 

  • Accurately code inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM and Australian Coding Standards

  • Validate DRG allocations and maintain compliance with Activity-Based Funding principles

  • Mentor and support less experienced coders through feedback and education

  • Participate in coding audits, quality plans, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Engage in coding education programs and contribute to team knowledge sharing

Selection Criteria:

 

  1. Extensive clinical coding experience (in the current ICD-10-AM version) across a broad range of specialties in a tertiary setting, evidenced to meet the District’s set KPIs of accuracy & throughput.

  2. Demonstrated understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) and Activity Based Funding (ABF).

  3. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills with high level attention to detail.

  4. Proven ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage time and resources to meet pre-determined targets and deadlines.

  5. Ability to analyse, abstract, interpret and report information in clinical coding forums.

  6. Enthusiastic attitude and demonstrated ability to work both independently, within a team and be flexible in a changing work environment.

  7. Demonstrated experience using computer applications.
