About the Role

You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.

  

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Officer to provide support to the Palliative Care Department and its clinic. Key responsibilities include patient appointment bookings, referral management, responding to patient enquiries, supporting clinical teams, taking meeting minutes, stock ordering, and general administrative duties.

  

The successful applicant will have strong administrative and customer service skills, with healthcare administration experience highly desirable. The person will be tech-savvy, adaptable, a quick learner, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.

This position will work 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, including shifts of 8:00 am–4:30 pm and 8:30 am–5:00 pm.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in an administrative setting with established high level computer literacy and typing skills, including experience with dictaphone transcribing equipment or software, with a minimum typing speed of 60wpm.
  • Knowledge of Medicare billing.
  • Ability to work to support a Head of Department, independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external customers both verbally and in writing.
