An opportunity to join the Department of Tissue Pathology and Diagnostic Oncology at RPA as an Administration Officer.


About the opportunity

Are you interested in working in a state-of-the-art facility with one of the largest public Anatomical Pathology laboratories? The Department of Tissue Pathology and Diagnostic Oncology at RPA are seeking a motivated individual to provide administrative and organisational support to a team of doctors and scientists.

As the statewide diagnostic service for bone and soft tissue sarcoma, pelvic exenteration, complex head and neck resections, liver and kidney transplants and diagnostic molecular pathology, you will be exposed to a diverse range of specialty pathology. The successful applicant will be joining a team of scientists and technicians, working together with administrative and medical staff, to ensure the delivery of high-quality pathology results to patients and clinicians.

Located at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Campus in Camperdown, Sydney. Our laboratory is conveniently located near three train stations and multiple bus stops. Staff enjoy easy access to many local cafes and entertainment facilities.


What you'll be doing

Provide an effective full range of administrative support services, including filing and records management, data input and management, mail receipt and sorting, maintenance of registers, photocopying, compilation of annuals and reports to support the smooth running of the service.

  1. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work, display time management skills taking into account the impact on others to achieve results to meet deadlines.
  2. Demonstrated ability to use computer hardware, software applications and electronic administration systems and Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel to complete requirements of the role.
  3. A demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks in a high volume work environment under general instruction requiring minimal supervision.
  4. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to confidently and courteously deal with a variety of people.
  5. Accurate medical typing and experience with medical terminology and ability/willingness to type to dictation.
