Are you an organised, motivated and experienced administration professional who enjoys working with people and making a difference? Quirindi Health Service is seeking an Administration Officer – Medical Records to join our supportive multidisciplinary team at Quirindi Hospital.

Quirindi Health Service incorporates both Quirindi Hospital and HealthOne Quirindi. Quirindi Hospital is a Level 2 District Hospital with 20 acute care inpatient beds and 3 emergency beds, located approximately 50 minutes south of Tamworth. Our service is well supported by Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital and an experienced team of Medical Officers, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Allied Health and Administration staff.

 

About the role

As an Administration Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of safe and effective patient care through the accurate management of medical records and information.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing discharge analysis of patient records.
  • Sorting, scanning, assembling and filing inpatient medical records.
  • Locating and retrieving records for outpatient clinics, admissions, emergency care, research, coding and other clinical requirements.
  • Processing patient information and release-of-information requests in accordance with NSW Ministry of Health guidelines and hospital privacy policies.
  • Managing requests for medical records from internal and external customers.
  • Following up and coordinating records required for outstanding clinical coding.
  • Processing loose sheets and ensuring medical records are appropriately maintained.
  • Coordinating the transfer and retrieval of medical records, including ordering records from off-site storage facilities.
  • Providing frontline reception and administrative support in a busy clinical environment.
  • Responding professionally and sensitively to enquiries from patients, staff, healthcare professionals and members of the public.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Administration Officer who can work confidently in a busy healthcare environment.

You will bring:

  • Confidence using computer systems and learning new technology and processes.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and work within privacy requirements.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team.


Experience in health administration, medical records or a clinical environment will be highly regarded. However, the right candidate will be supported to develop the knowledge and skills required for the role.

What you'll be doing

Responsible for the record management processing activities that ensure that clinical records are available as required for clinical care also the records are retrieved from clinical service efficiently and effectively.
