The Role

Provide a range of administrative and clerical support services to enable the Patient Access Unit of Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital to achieve their objectives in a timely, reliable and efficient manner.
To perform all clerical functions in an efficient and effective manner within the Patient Flow Unit, as outlined in the NSW Ministry of Health (MoH) Waiting Time and Elective Surgery Policy PD2012_011, by liaising and maintaining open and effective lines of communication between all staff concerned with the admission of elective patient admissions.
The position is responsible for the booking and management of allocated Surgeons waiting list sessions to satisfy the requirements of the NSW Health Waiting Time and Elective Surgery Policy PD 2012_011.

Sydney Hospital is Australia's first hospital and dates from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788.
The Hospital is in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney within easy walking distance to public transport. For staff who drive to work subsidised parking is available on site.
Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Demonstrated Ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks in a demanding environment
- Experience of responding to a range of enquiries and determining the appropriate response in a Hospital setting
- Demonstrated High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to providing quality service and quality improvement initiatives in workplace practices and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to use computer hardware, software applications and the use of health information systems such as IPM and EMR in accordance with Policy and Procedure
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proven experience with dealing with the members of the public
