Gunnedah Hospital is a district hospital within Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), providing essential healthcare services to the Gunnedah community and surrounding rural areas of north-west NSW.

Operating 24 hours a day, Gunnedah Hospital provides a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, maternity and allied health services. Our Administration team plays an important role in supporting the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-focused healthcare across the facility.

 

About the role

As an Administration Officer, you will provide high-quality administrative and customer service support across Gunnedah District Health Service. You will work collaboratively with a diverse range of staff, patients, managers and external stakeholders to ensure administrative services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining accurate electronic and paper-based records in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail and distributing correspondence appropriately.
  • Monitoring and responding to shared email inboxes, ensuring enquiries are actioned or escalated in a timely manner.
  • Receiving and directing telephone calls, responding to enquiries and providing high-quality customer service.
  • Scheduling appointments and meetings and maintaining calendars as required.
  • Performing data entry and updating information within relevant databases and information systems.
  • Processing EFTPOS payments and completing associated administrative tasks.
  • Providing administrative support for admissions and day surgery processes in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Liaising with patients, staff, managers and external stakeholders in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Supporting projects, service improvement activities and other team initiatives.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the achievement of team objectives.
  • Undertaking other administrative duties appropriate to the classification level.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant high level administration qualifications and/or equivalent experience, maintaining accuracy

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of medical/typing
