About the role
Under supervision and as part of the multidisciplinary team, the Aboriginal Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol (MHDA) Trainee will participate in the development and implementation of mental health services to promote the social and emotional well-being of Aboriginal people and the wider community.
Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) will support the development of the Aboriginal MHDA Trainee over a 3 year period, while the Trainee will be required to attend and participate in residential teaching blocks.
This is a unique opportunity for the right person to “springboard” their Mental Health Drug and Alcohol career. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work while studying for a degree. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in many areas of Mental Health Drug and Alcohol services.
The most enjoyable aspects of this role is being able to work within the community, meeting new patients and seeing positive outcomes for them from interventions that are put in place. The successful applicant would need to have good communication skills to be able to network with other services within Wellington and the region.
This position is based in Dubbo where you will be working as a part of the Multidisciplinary Community Mental Health team and may be required to provide outreach to nearby areas. You will report directly to the Team Leader and develop strong links with the District Coordinator of Aboriginal MHDA Services.
