Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (Identified)

Selection criteria to be addressed:

1. This is designed female Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander position. Applicants for this position must be Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
2. Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III Health qualification in area of care in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.
3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the health issues and key polices that impact on Aboriginal Community across NBMLHD. Including grief and loss, intergenerational trauma, child protection, domestic violence, substance abuse and the burden of chronic illness.
4. Demonstrate ability to liaise, proactively engage and work collaboratively with vulnerable communities and relevant agencies in ensuring culturally responsive services
5. Possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team
6. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and understanding of computers and Microsoft office applications
7. Must be able to identify and implement health promotion activities within a secure environment for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Patients
8. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
