About the role
The Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (AHLO) provides a key role in advocacy, education, and support for both patients and family and may act as an intermediary between patients and other healthcare staff. The AHLO also plays an important role in improving cultural competence of healthcare workers to improve trust with Indigenous patients and families. Acting as a key component in understanding the cultural differences so that adequate healthcare and optimal outcomes can be provided in a flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive way. Maintaining an effective working relationship between hospital staff, Aboriginal Health workers, the local Aboriginal communities and local Aboriginal organisations.
Also known as the Rainbow Region, this area is blessed with stunning forests and waterfalls, fertile farming land, artistic villages and relaxed seaside communities. For a different type of scene, you can drive to the Gold Coast or Brisbane in under 3 hours.
