Lightning Ridge Multi-Purpose Service is now offering a training opportunity for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander trainee to begin their health career under the NSW Health Transition to Practice (TTP) Program. 

The Transition to Practice Program:

  • Provides on-the-job training while you study a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice)
  • Is a pathway to becoming a registered Aboriginal Health Practitioner with AHPRA


In this role you’ll:

  • Advocate for culturally safe and respectful care for patients
  • Work collaboratively with clinicians and community to identify and address community health needs
  • Receive support, training, and cultural mentorship
  • Receive assistance with travel and accommodation to attend TAFE blocks
  • Gain skills in areas including community engagement, health promotion, and cultural liaison
  • Earn $62,512 - $90,357 per annum while you study


Please note the successful applicant must be willing to work towards obtaining their Certificate IV within 2.5yrs of commencement of employment, complete their clinical placements, and work towards AHPRA standards to meet registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.

· The successful applicant will be appointed temporarily for a period of 2 years in the position of Aboriginal Health Worker Transition to Practice and upon successfully meeting the qualification requirements of an AHPRA registered Aboriginal Health Practitioner as per the NSW Health Aboriginal Health Worker (State) Award they will be transitioned to this level and appointed to the position on a permanent basis. In the event that the employee does not meet the requirements by the end of their 2-year temporary appointment to the Aboriginal Health Practitioner level, their progress will need to be formally reviewed under a performance improvement framework and they will cease to be employed under the transition program.

· This recruitment may be used to create an Eligibility List for similar roles in the future (ongoing or temporary).
