This is a position identified for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people on the basis of a genuine occupational qualification under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. HealthOne Quirindi delivers an integrated primary and community health service, combining Community Health and visiting services to provide coordinated, client-centred care. 

About the Role

As part of the Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Services (AMIHS) program, you will work alongside mainstream antenatal services to deliver culturally safe support during pregnancy and the early postnatal period, helping improve health outcomes for Aboriginal families and their babies. You will work in partnership with the AMIHS Midwife to provide culturally sensitive, community-based midwifery care and support during pregnancy, as well as the early postnatal period. This service is committed to improving the health of Aboriginal families and babies accessing this support. The AMIHS program works in collaboration with mainstream antenatal services, as well as providing culturally supported transition to Child & Family Health services following the initial postnatal period.

This role is supported by the Hunter New England AMIHS network, which provides professional development and ongoing support. Comprehensive orientation will be provided upon commencement.

About You

You are a motivated and enthusiastic Aboriginal Health Worker committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal families. You have the ability to work collaboratively, provide cultural guidance, and deliver care in a respectful and inclusive manner. Your ability to provide appropriate cultural support for the AMIHS service is essential for the service to successfully meet the health outcomes for our AMIHS target population.

Requirements:
Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area of care in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.

  • * Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions. If your contract ends before the agreed completion date, you may be required to repay a portion of the incentive. Please note: the increased RHWIS allowance is approved until 30th June 2026. Commencement after this date may be subject to change, including the allowance amount for which the candidate may be eligible.   • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa. 
  • An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part time vacancies.
