This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive health services to Aboriginal clients and the community, across the Broken Hill Health Service including acute and non-acute areas with particular focus on ED presentations.
  • This position will be on a 7-day rotating roster (day, afternoon and night duty) to achieve better health outcomes and better access to health services for Aboriginal people.

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. (N.B. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW).
  • Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy including word processing and data entry skills.
  • Active involvement in the local Aboriginal community, with demonstrated understanding and commitment to improving the health issues impacting on Aboriginal communities.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, use own initiative and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.
  • A current NSW Drivers licence with the ability and willingness to drive for work purposes.
