Hunter New England provides Allied Health services to the wider community, with the opportunity for casual staff to work in diverse and complex caseloads across our district. Working in inpatient, outpatient and community settings you would get valuable experience and the opportunity to upskill in different areas.

The Allied Health Casual Pool provides short term cover to sites and services across Hunter New England, allowing consistency of service. Whether you have additional days of availability, want a change in scenery or caseload or just want to investigate opportunities for Allied Health professionals in Hunter New England, the casual pool is a great option.

Areas that you can choose to work within (you communicate your preference for location on a monthly basis):
  • Hunter Valley - Wonnarua Country
  • Lower Mid-North Coast (Including Taree and Forster- a holiday destination!) - Worimi and Biripi Country
  • Tamworth area - Gomeroi/Kamilaroi Country
  • Narrabri, Inverell and Moree areas - Kamilaroi/Gomeroi Country
  • Greater Newcastle – Awabakal Country


We have exciting casual opportunities for the following professionals: Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Dietetics, Counsellors, Podiatry, Genetics Counsellors, Audiology, Music Therapy, Child Life Therapy, Art Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Psychologist, Pharmacist, and Radiographers.

You will be provided thorough orientation to each site and service along with staff networks for support and connection. Additionally, you will be supported by senior staff responsible for the site/service, as well as being welcomed by the wider team for peer support.   • As a casual, successful candidates will provide clinical cover for facilities and sites, which may be full time or part time blocks of up to 13 weeks at a time.
  • Staff will be matched to available work based on availability, areas of expertise and location preferences.


About you:
Our successful candidate will:

  • Be able to communicate respectfully and build rapport easily with people of all background with an understanding of sensitivity towards diverse cultures and Aboriginal cultures.
  • Problem solve and prioritise effectively while being versatile within a dynamic workload.
  • Be committed to professional development, evident based practice and committed to patient-centred care.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Want to work towards Closing the Gap in health inequalities with First Nations people.
  • Hold recognised tertiary qualifications in an Allied Health profession, with eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association/full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
