Visiting Medical Officer in General Paediatrics

Zero Hours Quinquennial VMO | Sessional Determination 

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking suitably qualified Visiting Medical Officers in General Paediatrics to provide high quality, patient-centred paediatric care across inpatient, outpatient and on-call settings. 

About the Role
As a VMO in General Paediatrics, you’ll provide contemporary, evidence-based specialist clinical services to children and young people within HNEKidsHealth. The role includes: 

  • Provision of general paediatric care to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Participation in the acute general paediatric on-call roster.
  • Attendance at ward rounds, clinical handover and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Provide consultative, diagnostic, procedural and telehealth services as required.
  • Contribute to teaching, supervision and education of medical trainees and students.
  • Participation in quality improvement, clinical governance, safety and risk management activities.


Essential Requirements

  • A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in General Paediatrics and/or Adolescent Medicine. 
  • Evidence of training and experience in general paediatric medicine, including both inpatient and outpatient care of children and young people.
