Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is a principal tertiary referral hospital within Northern Sydney Local Health District, delivering a comprehensive range of complex and highly specialised healthcare services to patients across Northern Sydney and New South Wales.

What you'll be doing
This will be on a rotational basis, working in place of the Accredited Trainee on each team, while the Accredited Trainees in turn rotate to cover the ASU. This will allow the Uncredited Trainee to form close working relationships with the Consultants and Fellows on those services. It will provide good opportunity to gain experience in managing and caring for complex surgical patients, both inpatients and outpatients. The approximate breakdown of cover across the specialities over the course of the clinical year will be as follows: 20 weeks of upper GI, 18 weeks of colorectal and 14 weeks of endocrine/breast surgery. There will be no night shift cover required. After-hours ASU cover (weekends and evenings) will be expected at a frequency of one in six, shared with the Accredited Trainees.

- 1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- 2. Evidence of continued professional development specific to General Surgery and commitment to self-education and teaching
- 3. Evidence of General Surgery specific research projects completed or being undertaken.
- 4. Completion the Generic Surgical Sciences Examination (GSSE) and completed (or registered for) CLEAR, ASSET, EMST and CCrISP
- 5. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise
- 6. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- 7. High level communication skills, both written and verbal
- 8. Skills in time management, prioritisation and problem solving
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
To be employed by NSW Health, applicants must provide evidence of vaccination and comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive (PD2024_015). Compliance with this policy, including any amendments made from time to time, is a mandatory condition of employment.
Applicants will be required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status, immunity, and any other occupational health requirements relevant to the position. Evidence must be submitted and assessed in accordance with NSW Health requirements prior to commencement.

This position requires a Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance issued by Service NSW. A current and valid WWCC is a mandatory requirement for appointment to this role.
