The MERIT (Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment) Program offers a unique leadership opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people experiencing alcohol and other drug-related challenges. As Team Leader, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, driving evidence-based, trauma-informed and person-centred care at the intersection of health and justice. Through your leadership, you will help create opportunities for recovery, improve health and social outcomes, reduce offending, and strengthen communities across South Western Sydney.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications are required, providing eligibility for membership with a recognised professional organisation and/or current registration with AHPRA, where applicable. In addition, candidates must meet one of the following discipline-specific requirements:
- Counsellor Level 4: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Counselling or a related field.
- Social Worker Level 4: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Social Work, providing eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Welfare Officer Level 4: Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Community Welfare, or another qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Senior Psychologist: Four-year qualification in Psychology (a three-year Psychology degree plus a fourth-year Honours year) and current registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Please provide a specific example that demonstrates your advanced clinical skills in assessment, counselling and case management when working with a person experiencing complex alcohol and other drug-related needs. How did you assess risk and clinical needs, develop and deliver an individualised therapeutic intervention, coordinate care with relevant services, and evaluate the outcome?
- Do you have experience leading a multidisciplinary team in a high-risk or complex clinical environment? Please provide a specific example that demonstrates how you identified and managed risk, coordinated the multidisciplinary team, engaged key stakeholders, and ensured safe, person-centred outcomes for the client.
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
