What you'll be doing
To lead the overall operations of the Surgical Education, Research and Training (SERT) Institute including being responsible for the management of human resources, departmental relationships, financial and administrative services, operations of surgical training programs and the development and implementation of innovative and quality improvement strategies to support surgical clinical audit, research, education and training at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) and across all Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facilities as required. 
  
To develop the strategic and operational direction as well as support, ongoing service development and managerial direction of the newly established National Surgical Quality Improvement Program at RNSH and the data management and research component of the NSLHD Surgical Robotics Program. 
  
To lead the development of strategies with academic leads to strengthen university partnerships, support clinical leadership pathway to increase involvement in academic surgery, advanced teaching programs and skills training. 
  
To work closely with the NSLHD and RNSH Executive, the SERT Institute Advisory Committee and medical director to monitor and report on goals, operational plans, key priorities and academic outputs across RNSH Division of Surgery and Anaesthesia (DoSA).   
  
To provide leadership for the SERT Institute and Data Analysis Surgical Outcome (DASO) Unit and academic surgical leads including daily operations, stakeholder engagement and relevant policy and guideline development. 
  
Plan service sustainability, scalability across the LHD and revenue generating strategies that support strategic initiatives, quality improvement, research and the implementation of best practice surgical standards and data management. 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Relevant post-graduate qualifications and/or experience in management, health administration, research, education or related discipline or equivalent.
  2. Proven leadership and organisational skills in a complex clinical, surgical and/or clinical research or education environment, including clinical governance and operational management.
