About the Opportunity 
This is a new opportunity for an experienced Speech Pathologist to join a dynamic and supportive team delivering high-quality care to adult subacute inpatients and outpatients at Camden Hospital, as part of the broader Campbelltown/Camden Hospitals Speech Pathology team.  This position is preferred on a Full Time basis, however consideration will be given to Part time and Job-share opportunities.

As Team Leader and Senior Clinician, you will oversee the subacute rehabilitation and community palliative care streams, managing complex communication and swallowing disorders—including instrumental assessments such as VFSS and/or FEES. This role is pivotal in driving service development, providing supervision and training to staff and students, and embedding quality improvement into everyday practice.

Reporting to the Head of Department, you will lead and manage the delivery of Speech Pathology services at Camden Hospital, including: *Subacute inpatient rehabilitation *Adult outpatient services *Community palliative care.  As a senior clinician, you’ll bring advanced clinical expertise to support staff and students, ensuring optimal outcomes across a diverse caseload. Flexibility to work across both acute and subacute inpatient/outpatient streams and across sites is essential to meet service needs.

What You'll be Doing
The position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of speech pathology services to the subacute inpatient and outpatient speech pathology team. As the team leader the speech pathologist is responsible for overseeing and providing an efficient and effective service through the application of clinical expertise and knowledge in facility functions and the role adult subacute inpatient and outpatient services (including rehabilitation and palliative care populations) contribute to quality and safe care. The position will contribute to team leader departmental duties including leadership, clinical supervision, leading quality improvement activities, supporting management in service development and other administrative responsibilities as required.

Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals, part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, work together to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the Macarthur region.

 

Campbelltown Hospital, a leading tertiary facility, offers a wide range of services including cardiology, maternity, palliative care, respiratory medicine, emergency medicine, and aged-care services. It also features specialised Mental Health and Cancer facilities. Camden Hospital complements these services by specialising in care for older persons with acute or chronic health conditions, including rehabilitation, palliative care, geriatric evaluation and management, and psychogeriatric care.

  1. Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology (or equivalent) which provides eligibility for full practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

  2. Outline relevant clinical expertise in adult dysphagia and communication management across subacute, outpatient, rehabilitation, and palliative care settings, including experience with VFSS and/or FEES.

  3. Describe leadership experience in service planning and quality improvement, including supervision of staff or students, and examples of embedding evidence-based practice into team or service development.

  4. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
