About the Team
The Sterilising Services Department (CSSD) at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital plays a critical role in supporting safe, high-quality patient care across the facility. The department is responsible for the reprocessing, sterilisation and distribution of surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment to operating theatres, inpatient wards and clinical services.
You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team that works closely with perioperative services and clinical teams to ensure timely and efficient service delivery in a fast-paced healthcare environment where teamwork, accuracy and infection prevention are essential.

About the Role
As a Sterilisation Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting safe patient care by ensuring surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment are cleaned, disinfected, sterilised and distributed in line with Australian Standards and infection prevention requirements.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Reprocessing Operating Suite instrumentation
- Operating and monitoring sterilisation equipment
- Maintaining sterile stock levels across the hospital
- Ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control standards
- Assisting with quality assurance and documentation processes
- Identifying and escalating equipment faults or process issues
- Working collaboratively with perioperative services, wards and clinical teams to meet patient care needs

About You

- Commitment to NSW Health policies, Code of Conduct and CORE Values
Previous experience in a Sterilising Services Department (CSSD) or healthcare environment is highly regarded but not essential.
Essential Requirements
Currently undertaking Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (HLT37015-01) or willingness to obtain within 12 months of appointment

What you'll be doing
Provide optimum sterilising services as required, with a commitment to adherence of infection control measures as stated in Australian Standard 4187, and the CSSD Procedure Manual under the supervision of the CSSD Supervisor
