About the Role
We are seeking exceptional physicians to help shape the future of patient care across our district and communities.
• Permanent and temporary opportunities (full-time or part-time) or Visiting Medical Officer positions available for the right candidate(s)
• Applicants should hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in General Medicine or Geriatric Medicine
• Candidates within six months of completing their RACP Fellowship will be considered
• Overseas applicants with equivalent qualifications eligible for RACP registration are also welcome to apply

John Hunter Hospital is undergoing a transformational redevelopment as part of the $835 million John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct, with completion expected in 2026. This includes:
• A new seven-storey Acute Services Building with:
o 60% increase in ICU capacity
o 22 operating theatres and 9 interventional suites
o Expanded ED designed for over 95,000 annual presentations
o Rooftop helipad and more than 900 new car spaces
• Purpose-built flexible education spaces integrated with clinical services
• Direct connection to Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) for seamless research collaboration
Since April 2024, some General Medicine wards have been temporarily relocated to Maitland Hospital to support construction efforts, offering a unique opportunity to work across sites and contribute to service continuity.

You will:
• Deliver high-quality, patient-focused care across inpatient, ED, and outpatient settings at John Hunter and Belmont District Hospitals
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to junior staff
• Champion equitable healthcare and evidence-based practice
• Engage in teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in planning groups and committees to shape service delivery
