The Role

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff. Provide clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses/Midwives.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
  3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).
  5. Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment.
  7. Demonstrated recent educational and surgical experience in an acute care facility.
