Due to an internal vacancy, available until February 2027, an exciting opportunity exists for an early career clinician, with some post-graduate experience, to further develop their skills in an acute hospital setting.  You will join two other level 1/2 clinicians in rotational positions, which will provide you with a strong foundation in becoming more confident in the management of acute, rehabilitation, and some outpatient caseloads.

Where you'll be working

 

Based in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, you will be working in the state of the art, newly developed Prince of Wales Hospital.  Here you will be supported by a highly experienced, friendly and welcoming speech pathology team to develop all aspects of your clinical skills.

What you'll be doing

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it. 

Working in clinical streams with the support and guidance of experienced clinicians, you will have the opportunity to rotate through a range of acute, sub-acute and rehabilitation caseloads including aged care, gastro, neuro and rehabilitation, and you will also have the opportunity to work with outpatients.  You will be encouraged to become more confident working autonomously whilst at the same time have access to structured, regular and supportive supervision to deliver the highest standards of patient care at all times.  

 

Please note, this role is not suited to a new graduate/anyone who has no post-graduate experience.  New graduates should apply for our new graduate role, which will be advertised in the next few weeks.
 

Selection Criteria

 

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and Speech Pathology Australia
  2. Demonstrated post graduate, core competency skills in managing patients with dysphagia and communication disorders.
  3. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery
  4. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience
  5. Computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
  7. Demonstrated commitment to a positive workplace culture.
