The Speech Pathologist Casual Pool provides short term cover to sites and services across Hunter New England, allowing consistency of service. Whether you have additional days of availability, want a change in scenery or caseload or just want to investigate opportunities for speech pathology in Hunter New England, the casual pool is a great option.
Hunter New England provides Speech Pathology services to the wider community, with the opportunity for casual staff to work in diverse and complex caseloads across our district. With potential to work in inpatient, outpatient and community settings, and across the lifespan, you would get valuable experience. We have Speech Pathology roles no matter what your clinical area of interest.
If a casual within Hunter New England, you can communicate your availability and location preferences with us on a monthly basis. Locations that you can choose to work:
- Hunter Valley
- Lower Mid-North Coast (including Taree and Forster - a holiday destination!)
- Tamworth area
- Armidale and Inverell areas
- Narrabri and Moree areas
- Greater Newcastle
You will be provided thorough orientation to each site and service. Additionally, you will be supported by senior staff responsible for the site/service, as well as being welcomed by the wider team for peer support. Being an employee of Hunter New England will give you access to regular educational opportunities including online learning. There is also potential for accommodation support dependent on availability.

- Our teams are highly experience, and are supportive and encouraging of new staff joining the team
- Clinical supervision/buddying support will be provided by health service sites. Additionally, candidates will have access to online modules through my health learning.
- As a casual, successful candidates will provide clinical cover for facilities and sites, which may be full time or part time blocks of up to 13 weeks at a time.
- Staff will be matched to available work based on availability, areas of expertise and location preferences.

- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
