About the Role

You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Social Work Department at RPAH. This permanent full-time senior position is located within our Women’s and Children’s Health Team. The team covers maternity, the birthing unit, neonatal intensive care, paediatrics, fertility, foetal medicine and the antenatal clinic. You will be part of a large, dedicated and highly skilled department working with culturally and socially diverse patients and their families. The position is also required to provide support to other areas within the hospital as required, and applicants are advised that at times the position involves working with vulnerable people and people experiencing trauma. This may include supporting parents experiencing perinatal and pregnancy loss. Applicants are also advised that this position includes ongoing participation in the after-hours on call crisis service, including weekends. We appreciate that Social Work in public health can be both challenging and rewarding, and we have a suite of wellbeing initiatives occurring across the department to make sure we’re caring for ourselves as well as our patients.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of social work, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
  • High level verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  • Ability to independently problem solve, apply professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as per of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Holds a current NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
