What you'll be doing:
Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to individual’s needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey.
As a Social Worker Level 3, you’ll play a vital role in supporting clients experiencing complex psychosocial issues. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed social work services to clients, families, and carers.
- Provide expert consultation to clinicians, supporting the best possible health outcomes.
- Work across a range of specialist services including the Newcastle Cannabis Clinic, Hunter Drug and Alcohol Counselling Service, and the Stimulant Treatment Program.
We're looking for an approachable professional with a non-judgemental manner and excellent active listening skills. You understand the importance of empathy, clear boundaries, and professionalism in building effective working relationships.

Criteria:
- Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and a minimum of three years full time experience.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
Additional Information:
- To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
