Social Worker Level 1/2: $38.51 - 54.94 per hour
Psychologist: $40.57 - $59.38 per hour

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

An exciting opportunity exists for a Social Worker or Psychologist to participate on the Sexual Assault Service Out of Hours On-Call Roster. The IVPRS Sexual Assault Service provides 24 hour crisis counselling and medical services to people in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District who have been sexually assaulted. The after-hours on call Sexual Assault Counsellor has three key roles:

  1. To provide crisis counselling and advocacy for victims of sexual assault.

  2. To support and provide information to victims of sexual assault and their family members/ friends.

  3. To work closely with the Forensic Medical Unit medical staff and Police to facilitate medical/ forensic examinations at Nepean Hospital.
     

We are seeking staff with the ability to work autonomously providing trauma centred responses to calls after business hours (at night and on weekends) and who can attend Nepean Hospital (when required) within one hour of a call out. Successful incumbents will be provided with ongoing access to training as well as 24/7 consultation and supports. The service also holds on-call meetings several times a year in which incumbents will have further opportunities to expand their skills and network with a wonderful team of trauma focused professionals.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership as follow, plus significant clinical experience in child, young people and adult. Social Worker – Minimum bachelor’s degree and eligibility for membership of AASW and extensive specialist knowledge or high level of broad generalist knowledge. Psychologist - a four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology; or a qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification for this position and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  2. Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and/or adults who have experienced trauma.
  3. Demonstrated of understanding of current policies, frameworks and legislation regarding child protection, sexual assault and problematic harmful sexualised behaviours under 10.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between issues of sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection.
  5. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with ability to work in multidisciplinary settings.
  6. Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.
  7. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Participate in the 24/7 crisis on-call service, to attend Nepean Hospital within one (1) hour
