What you'll be doing
The Senior Statewide Educator Sexual Assault works within the Integrated Violence, Abuse and Neglect (IVAN) team at the NSW Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV). The position ensures state-wide development, delivery and evaluation of evidence based training programs and resources on violence, abuse & neglect to NSW Health workers, other government and non-government frontline staff.

The Senior Statewide Educator Sexual Assault assesses workforce capacity and training needs in relation to adult and child sexual assault, child abuse and child protection, and domestic and family violence for NSW Health Violence, Abuse & Neglect workforces, in order to deliver effective responses, counselling, case management and advocacy interventions. This position will also collaborate in the development and delivery of programs on children under ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours, and will provide support and input into ECAV’s Medical & Forensic management of violence, abuse and neglect training programs.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications including Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling  or equivalent

Selection Criteria:  

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications including Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent and holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to work towards this.
  2. Demonstrated experience working in NSW Health VAN services and/or related services providing a range of responses to children, young people, adults and families who have experienced violence abuse and neglect, in particular sexual assault.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the socio-political context, nature, dynamics and impacts of violence abuse and neglect and their relevance to integrated practice and health service delivery
  4. Demonstrated high level ability to critically analyse current issues and emerging trends and proven experience and skills in the development and delivery of training programs in the area of violence, abuse and neglect, including sexual assault
  5. Demonstrated understanding of cultural competency and applying culturally safe practices in the workplace
  6. Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment, with a demonstrated ability to work to deadlines, to manage and complete resource development/policy review/project management and have high level communication skills
  7. Excellent organisational and written skills with competency in computer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, email systems and training equipment
  8. Willingness to travel within NSW and has a current driver’s license valid in NSW
