Paediatric Senior Resident (SRMO) positions are available at The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, for the 2027 Clinical Year, for up to 12 months from 01 February 2027 to 06 February 2028. The position is designed to give interested JMOs the opportunity to pursue 6-12 months of special skills training in paediatric medicine. This will provide exposure to general aspects of medical care of infants, children and adolescents and will serve as a solid foundation of paediatric knowledge for use in your future clinical practice. The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, along with our training network sites, provides a high caliber of education for all junior trainees.
Paediatric SRMOs will rotate through 3-month terms which provide the trainee with the widest paediatric experience. General medicine terms may occur at one of the secondment sites within the Eastern and Western Paediatric Training Networks. For those applying for a full year of paediatric experience, further rotations may include General Paediatrics, Paediatric Emergency, Subspecialty Paediatrics Relief and Paediatric Surgery. Paediatric SRMOs will be required to work normal hours, as appropriate for the particular clinical service allocated; this will include shift work. Paediatric SRMOs will also be required to work reasonable rostered overtime hours as required by the clinical service.

Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Completed two years postgraduate clinical training.
- Involved in or pursuing General Practice training and registered with RACGP. Please provide registration number
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team which includes other medical staff, allied health staff, nursing staff and other ward staff to ensure the appropriate management of the patient. Please provide an example
- Demonstrated experience in taking comprehensive patient history, performing clinical examination and accurate documenting treatment in patient’s record. Please provide an example
- Ability to demonstrate accurate decision-making and to seek further advice in accordance with level of experience and showing an awareness of limitations. Please provide an example
- Proven ability to organise, plan and manage competing tasks. Please provide an example
- Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment. Please provide an example
