Where you'll be working

Ryde Hospital is currently undergoing an exciting $479 million Redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community. The Redevelopment will result in new and enhanced health facilities and services including emergency, critical care, inpatient, community, ambulatory care services and more.



What you'll be doing

The senior resident medical officer (SRMO) in general surgery at Ryde hospital provides clinical management of surgical patients and participates in the operating theatre under appropriate supervision. The SRMO works closely with the senior accredited (SET) surgical registrar and surgical intern to manage elective and emergency patients, and will be closely supervised by a team of 8 general surgery consultants. This role provides the trainee with excellent clinical and operative exposure, and will prepare them well for accredited training.
 

  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
  3. Adept ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
  4. Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team.
  5. Adept good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  7. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
