Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy rural hospital which employs over 1,000 staff and is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services.  Shoalhaven Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit. Shoalhaven Hospital is currently undergoing a $438 million redevelopment.


What you'll be doing
To provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while  developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. Shoalhaven is a busy rural Emergency Department offering a wide exposure to clinical cases. We offer the Emergency Medicine Certificate/Diploma (Australasian College of Emergency Medicine) and we are accredited for Special Skills training by RACGP and ACRRM. We encourage trainees in Emergency Medicine, General Practice and SRMO candidates seeking to broaden their skills, confidence and independence in a supportive environment. 
 

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. Completion of at least two postgraduate years working as a medical officer with demonstrated competence
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment
  4. Preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours, overtime and standby rosters
  5. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  6. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary framework
  7. Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self education
  8. A professional attitude and flexibility in work role
