What you'll be doing
This position is ideal for a RMO who wishes to work toward applying for the radiology training program. It is ideal for a junior trainee within the first 5 years of graduation, who has completed at least 2 years post-graduation (i.e. PGY3-5). This position will provide experience in radiology and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.   

The primary purpose of the position is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring radiology medical services in a complex clinical environment. The SRMO will observe and participate in all stages of the radiological examination of patients including referral, triaging, prescribing oral and intra-venous contrast, checking for allergies, supervision, assistance with performance and communication of the procedure.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Minimum 2 years post graduate experience and recent provision of clinical care.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
  5. Adept verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
  6. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  8. Interest in pursuing a possible career in Radiology with some evidence of experience or study in relation to relevant disciplines.
