Level 3 role providing both inpatient and outpatient orthotic care in a busy tertiary hospital specializing in spinal injuries and Burns.

What you'll be doing
Provide Paediatric Orthotics service for patients in the NSLHD. Provide Orthotics Service to inpatients at Graythwaite and Ryde Hospital. Assist with Royal North Shore Orthotic Department inpatient and outpatient workload. This includes both acute and rehabilitation covering a range of health conditions including stroke, burns and spinal injuries. Deliver a high quality clinical service based on evidence based practice and established professional orthotic standards. Exercise independent professional judgement using advanced problem solving and techniques which may require expansion, adaption and modification of existing methods. Participate in multi –discipline patient management meetings in regard to orthotic intervention. Provide professional feedback and participate in developing educational materials to patients/carers/guardians. Run Orthotics Clinic with Rehabilitation specialists and Allied Health Teams. 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Demonstrated experience as a level 2 Orthotist.
  2. Extensive postgraduate experience working with children/adults with developed advanced skill in the neurological lower limb assessment and management using evidence based practice.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment.
