Are you an experienced clinician who is interested in providing support and care to youth mental health? An amazing opportunity exists to work with us as a Smoking-Vaping Cessation Officer in our team at SESLHD Mental Health Service.
This role aims to make a difference to the lives and physical health of young people by providing education, guidance and support in the process of smoking and vaping cessation. The Smoking Cessation Officer will provide education to young consumers about the harm of smoking, second hand smoking and promote smoking cessation aids including Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

Selection Criteria:
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and for Social Work; eligible for membership with AASW); Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy current AHPRA registration; Exercise Physiology; eligible for membership with ESSA; Dietetics; eligible for full membership with Dietitians Australia; Speech Pathology; eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia. Registered Nurse (with current AHPRA registration) at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition holding approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is to be appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation, Psychology with a recognised 4 year degree in Psychology along with full registration with AHPRA and min 8 years’ experience post full registration.
- Extensive post graduate experience in mental health and/or substance use, with demonstrated knowledge of the impact of smoking/ vaping on a consumer’s mental health and medication prescribed.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational level.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, and development of education tools or programs to support others in providing service excellence.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning
- Demonstrated experience in providing advice to managers on clinical service development, practice change and service redesign.
- Current NSW Driver’s licence and a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the role.
