About the Role

This role provides expert human resources (HR) and industrial relations consultancy to support the effective delivery of workforce services across designated portfolios within MNCLHD. The position plays a key role in enabling organisational performance by delivering timely, practical advice and solutions on a broad range of HR and industrial matters in line with relevant legislation, awards, policies, and procedures.

Working in close partnership with Nursing, Midwifery and Workforce teams, as well as managers, staff, industrial bodies, and external stakeholders, the role fosters strong, collaborative relationships that support a positive and engaged workplace culture. It focuses on building the capability of line managers through coaching and guidance, empowering them to effectively manage their teams and contribute to improved workforce outcomes.

The role also contributes to organisational change initiatives, continuous improvement, and the development of contemporary HR practices, systems, and frameworks. Through data analysis, reporting, and evidence-based insights, it supports informed decision making and service delivery improvements.

As a collaborative member of the Workforce team, the position supports key organisational priorities while demonstrating strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills. A commitment to patient safety, clinical quality, and continuous improvement underpins all aspects of the role, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients, clients, and the broader organisation.

This is a Full Time Permanent role based within the Mid North Coast Local Health District with offices in Coffs Harbour & Port Macquarie.

About You

You are a skilled HR professional with qualifications in human resources or a related field, or equivalent experience within a large and complex organisation. You bring demonstrated experience in change management and project delivery, with a proven ability to contribute effectively within a high performing HR team to achieve organisational priorities.

You have a strong track record of supporting the development of HR capability, enabling leaders to effectively manage their teams and align with organisational goals. Your ability to analyse issues, think critically, and provide sound, practical HR advice allows you to deliver reliable solutions that support workforce performance and service delivery in a complex environment.

With highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, you confidently engage, consult, and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders. You are equally comfortable working independently or collaboratively, and you bring the leadership capability to motivate, coordinate, and support others to achieve shared outcomes.

You are adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the Local Health District supports your capacity to provide responsive, on the ground HR support where it is needed most.
