About this role

This role has been created to facilitate a refresh of team processes and to also meet an increasing demand for public information services.

At its core, the Senior GIPA Officer is responsible for preparing the Ministry’s response to applications from the public under the functions of the Government Information (Public Access) Act. The roles will work closely with the GIPA Specialist and the broader GIPA Team to review applications as they are received, engage internal stakeholders in the process of identifying relevant information and to prepare documentation in response to information requests.  

Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing 
The successful candidate will:

  • engage with applicants and internal stakeholders to create a positive experience and provide guidance to staff on the GIPA applications process and their role in locating and reviewing information. 
  • manage responses to requests for information, providing high level advice and recommendations for action. Furthermore, you will also be researching relevant GIPA case law and drafting/preparing formal letter and determinations under the GIPA Act, for the GIPA Specialist.
  • ensure appropriate information management requirements are adhered to and accurate record keeping practices are maintained.


About you 
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Understanding or experience in managing GIPA applications. 
  • The ability to understand and interpret legislation and research relevant case law.
  • The ability to multitask and manage a high number of applications and enquires. 
  • A high level of organisational skills, a high attention to detail, be able to work independently, and takes initiative in all aspects of your work.  
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • The ability to work and collaborate within a small dynamic team environment
  • A growth mindset, and commitment to continuous learning and personal development
